The Need To Powerflush Your System
Sludge and debris if left in heating systems will accumulate in the boiler and radiators, dramatically reducing their effectiveness and will eventually lead to a loss of efficiency or premature failure of the appliance.

The benefits of power flushing
The result of power flushing is that the boiler and the rest of the central heating system become more efficient. This occurs because there is better circulation through the pipework and radiators and in turn the boiler doesn't have to work so hard to warm the house and water, Therefore the overall result is that you will save money on your heating bills.
Consequences of not power flushing
If your heating system does need to be power flushed and you decide not to do it then the problems will almost certainly get worse. The circulation through the pipes and the radiators will slow until very little hot water gets through. This means that the house will not heat up and the boiler will be working harder and be working for no real reason. The result of this is that energy will be wasted and in the long run money will be wasted as well.

All new replacement boilers installed on to existing heating systems and new heating systems should be power flushed to ensure all sludge, Magnetite, fluxes, residues, excess jointing compound, mineral oils and other contaminants are thoroughly flushed from the system to ensure peak performance of the boiler and heating system
How do we do a power flush
When power flushing, we as a company use both the Powerflush and Magnetite machines, connecting them to the heating system. The principle is to create a powerful fresh water flow under controlled conditions to remove the debris from the system. After connecting the Powerflush and Magnetite cleaning machines to the heating systems, a chemical cleaner is added to the system.
The contaminated water passes through the system which removes the circulating black iron oxide contamination from the flushing water quickly and simply using the power of a large magnet which attracts the magnetic iron oxide away from the water flow. The rapid removal of debris from the flushing water prevents saturation of the chemical cleaner solution with the black sludge, leading to a more effective power flush.
When the new boiler/heating system has been installed and before the final commissioning of the boiler we again carry out a manual flush of the system adding a pre- commission cleaning agent. The water is circulated around the system breaking down any flux's, jointing agent etc that might have been introduced into the system, in to suspended parts making it easier to flush out the system. The system is once again drained, re-filled with fresh water and an inhibitor added. The inhibitor helps to protect the system from within, stopping the build up of sludge within the system, ensuring maximum efficiency and minimum fuel usage.
So is power flushing worth it? The answer to this depends on how affected your heating system is. If the entire system is showing signs of bad circulation or you notice more than two of the signs mentioned above then a powerflush will probably be worth the money you pay.
